YOU ARE…

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with authenticity. In fact, if you take a few big steps back and look at this blog, you’ll see that that’s mostly what I write about. It’s a subjective topic — authenticity — but for some reason I feel compelled to celebrate the experiences, people and things in the world that I think are really real.

Take my friends Alicia and Mike, for instance. They’re artists, real ones who work hard doing what they do, making sacrifices along the way in order to make impressive things happen. Alicia is also the coolest professor at Bowdoin College here in Maine (no quantitative data on that, just a hunch), and Mike just started a masters degree far away in distant New York State.

Together, they undertake ambitious artistic projects and basically make it all happen with elbow grease and sheer determination. Accordingly, awesome opportunities come their way, and as a result they’ve been able to show their work all over the world at this point. They’re people like you and me, regular folks with a knack for making amazing things happen.

Right now, they need our help to get their next undertaking off the ground. You can read all the details here, but basically they have a kickstarter campaign going, raising funds to get themselves and one of their sculptures over to England. This one’s fully WW&W endorsed, so consider doing what you can — I promise there are no two more deserving people in the art world. They’ll do good things with your money.
