STAY WITH ME, MAN!
Heads up! I’ll be on a boat 120 out to sea off the other coast (the Pacific one) for better part of the next three weeks. Any WW&W orders won’t get shipped until I get back, as I will be 100% out of phone and email contact (yew!). Sorry about that, but know that it’s in the service of a good cause.
Lots of new stuff coming up, so sit tight, ok? And don’t forget to donate to the fight against cancer at www.paddle2live.org.

PADDLE2LIVE 2K11: JACK IS BACK!
Two weeks ago I was living out of a suitcase in my old home, Portland, Oregon, working on this trailer. Thanks to support from some amazing people at Wieden + Kennedy, we were able to cut it from start to finish — finalizing the script, recording Jack’s VO and editing together 6 terabytes of footage — in just three days at their office in the Pearl District.
Heartfelt thanks go to Janice, Joey, Jason, Max and everyone else at WK who helped us make this happen.
It’s hard to believe that in just a week and a half I’ll be back on a boat 100 miles off the coast of California for 14 days. Keep an eye out for another series of mini-docs as we track Jack’s progress on his 260-mile paddle from Point Conception, out to all of the Channel Islands, and back to Newport Beach.
Please support Jack in his fight to end cancer and find a cure.
I’ve never been more proud of a project…

NEW IN THE SHOP: THE O.G.L.L. BEAN CHAMOIS SHIRT
In a state like Maine, you can start out well within its borders and still drive NE for two hours without covering much ground. That’s particularly notable in New England, home to such postage stamp-sized plots of land as Rhode Island and Connecticut. Up here in the Great White North, getting out doesn’t mean going far, so that’s what the wife and I did last weekend.
After a long, cold week of work in the outdoors, we pointed ourselves in the direction of Rangeley, Maine, to meet up with some family and slide waxed boards on snow. Along the way we stopped, as we often do, to do a bit of investigating and draw the journey out. One tiny storefront rang as we entered, an old bell hung above the door to alert all those within to our presence. The crowd was thin — Renee, our just-past-middle-age-verging-on-old-age hostess was holding the place down all by her lonesome. Read more…

IF IT WORKS FOR CONVERSE, IT’S WORK FOR ME: PART 2
I just got word from Converse that the rest of my articles/interviews have been published on their site. This time around it’s Kris Johnsen, one of my favorite Portlanders and one insanely talented, focused and mellow dude. He has a great blog where he details the way in which he creates posters for various venues in town — it’s involved to say the least, so check it out. Incidentally, I also took the portrait above, which I’m pretty happy with.
Last but certainly not least, is California DJ and “bass oriented dance music” producer Don Froth. Incidentally, this guy also absolutely rips in the water and throws a mean gainer when the opportunity to do so presents itself. This piece is slated to get the Converse Facebook treatment, which means an audience of 24 million fans — yep, absolute madness.
Thanks to Al, Nicole, Daniel, Tod, Kris and Julian/Don — all the creative people who helped make this happen, and to Ben and Scott from Converse for their support.

IF IT WORKS FOR CONVERSE, IT'S WORK FOR ME
Finally got the news that some profiles I put together for Converse last summer are now flapping in the breeze. Take a moment and read about three of my favorite things/people right now in Maine and beyond. Maybe more to come?
